No longer a baby, a one year old is now a member of the toddler tornado gang – brace yourselves! Here are some of my favourite one year old gift ideas with lots of practical and fun items for little ones who are into everything and ready to explore the world.
Stacking toys like this Magnetic Stacking Rocket are great for challenging little ones.
Just in time for summer, Aussie brand Acorn Kids has a stunning selection of hats. I especially love the reversible floppy hat designs.
Bath toys make great gifts and these sturdy Green Toys submarine and tugboat toys are big winners in our house. My tornadoes have each had one since they were little and still love playing with them. An added bonus – the spouts are perfect for pouring and rinsing hair in the bath.
This bath book from Wee Gallery is just magical! Swipe it with a wet paint brush (or dunk it in the water) and watch the colours come to life.
A cosy hooded towel makes a practical gift – these animal wraps from Pottery Barn Kids are just adorable!
Perfect for daycare or a day out, I love these Rex London children’s mini backpacks in Red Riding Hood, Flamingo, Space Boy and Creature designs.
Pyjamas are practical and great gifts for one year olds – when my tornadoes were that age, I was constantly washing PJs! I’m loving these cute Miffy and lightning bolt pyjamas from Cotton On Kids.
As little ones become independent with their eating, dinnerware sets make great gifts. As much as I treasure my keepsake Bunnykins china, it never got used. Instead, I tend to gift melamine sets as they can withstand the demands of toddlers who like to throw plates on the ground! This Belle and Boo melamine 3 piece boxed set, in lovely soft colours, includes a plate, bowl and mug. I’m also a fan of the bright and fun Ferguson Fox set from Skip Hop.
This EverEarth 7 in 1 Garden Activity Cube encourages shape and colour recognition, assists hand to eye co-ordination and develops thinking skills as kids are challenged to figure out how things work and move. With moving beads, maze, shape sorter, abacus, moving cogs, counting blocks one to ten and many more moving parts, there’s lots to keep little ones busy and engaged.
Don’t forget books! Books are ideal for one year old gift ideas (you can never have enough books!). Some of my favourites for this age include lift-the-flap classics like Dear Zoo and Spot, Good Night Me, and any of the bright and fun books in the Maisy series.
