Miss TT has had a big year – breaking her arm at gymnastics, surgery for tonsils out/adenoids out/grommets in and on a happier note, starting kindy. For 3 days every week during school term, she has an absolute blast and has gone ahead in leaps and bounds. With this has come lots of new lovely little friends…and lots of 4th and 5th birthday parties.
Kids aged 4 – 6 already have so much STUFF. I like to try and keep gifts fun and practical. Something that doesn’t take up a lot of room is always good too! So what to buy a 4, 5 or 6 year old?

Kinetic Sand is amazing – it looks like real sand, feels like real sand but its special properties make it soft and stretchy. Kids can sculpt and create models as the sand sticks to itself, not to them. It’s non-toxic and never dries out – the type of sand that I don’t mind having indoors. This stuff is a big hit at kindy and I’ve already popped a box away for Miss TT and Mr TT for Christmas.
Pillowcases have come a long way – I never remember them being this cool! They make a great original gift. Pictured on the left, the ‘Rosy The Dreamer’ pillowcase is just beautiful. It’s screen Printed on 100% cotton using water based inks. Pictured on the right and great for superhero fans, the Bat Boys pillowcase is very cool (but not cheesy!).
Walk into any Smiggle store and you will find yourself surrounded by a swarm of excitable kids. Miss TT loves the place and as for Mr TT (age 2), with all the bright colours and easily reachable items, he just doesn’t know where to start wreaking havoc first! This 30 pack of pens is a bestseller and includes a mix of gel, glitter, neon and pastel Smiggle pens packed in a carry case. A practical gift for creative fun.

Lego is a popular gift that can be added to year after year. Lego Junior sets are suitable for kids age 4 and over and Lego City sets suit kids age 5 and over. Miss TT plays with Lego that I had as a child in the 1980s. Handy Hubby is still holding a grudge with his Mum for throwing his Lego collection out years ago!
