I was given two Djeco Zooblock Hippo Ben sets by Go Go Pépé Toys – one to review and one to giveaway. This is not a paid review. All opinions in this post are my own and those of Mr TT and Miss T. Want to know what we thought? Read on!
Mr TT is always building something. Towers of blocks, Duplo, sandcastles, racetracks for his cars – he is one busy boy. He’s also good at demolishing those creations along with almost anything his big sister creates.
With Handy Hubby working in the renovation and construction game, it’s no surprise his love of creating and building has rubbed off onto both tornadoes. Handy Hubby regularly has two junior trade assistants following him around the house wanting to “help”.
When Go Go Pépé Toys asked if we would like to review the Djeco Zooblock Hippo Ben construction set, I just knew my two tornadoes would be keen to test it out.
We have a number of toys and puzzles from Djeco and the quality is always excellent – this Zooblock Hippo Ben is no exception. The pieces are made of sturdy beechwood, enamelled metal, and plastics and tough enough to withstand the wrath of a toddler tornado.
There are three variations of the vehicle to make or kids can use their imagination to design their own vehicle. Once built, they’re perfect for indoor or outdoor play.
Miss T went straight to the instruction book and Mr TT went immediately for the screwdriver. Did you notice the chubby little hand in the photo above? He was raring to go!
Mr TT had just as much fun taking apart the designs as he did creating them. “Wow” and “This is cool Mummy” were his first in-depth thoughts.
The screwdriver is a perfect size for little hands and was Mr TT’s favourite part of the set. “I like screwing the bolts in and out.” As for Miss T, “I like the bright colours, the funny hippo with the hat and having a go at building all of the things.”
Mr TT is a few weeks shy of 4 years old and I’d suggest at this age, some supervision and assistance is required. At age 6, Miss T was able to follow the instructions and build the vehicles herself.
I loved watching my tornadoes at play. From the look of concentration on their faces as they built each design to how proud they were as they completed each step, it’s a great toy to encourage fine motor and problem solving skills. Mr TT let out several cries of “I did it!” along with “I’m good at doing that by myself!”
Thanks to Go Go Pépé Toys, I’m giving away one Djeco Zooblock Hippo Ben valued at $47.95.
