Step away from the fluffy stuffed toys my friends – they will only gather dust! Instead, choose a unique, practical and fun gift for baby this Christmas. A gift that parents will appreciate and one that can be enjoyed well beyond the baby stage.
Check out some of my favourite baby gift ideas…
One of my absolute favourites! Bath toys make practical and fun gifts. I have given a number of these beautiful Origami Boats as gifts. From Spanish designers Oli & Carol, they are 100% natural latex with no valve to let in any manky water. They also double as a great teether (now available in a beautiful new mint colour too!).
Made of water resistant and lightweight fabric, the Skip Hop Zoo Tuck-away Bib tucks into its own built-in pouch. These bibs are fantastic to take out and about and clean easily with a simple rinse or machine wash. I have gifted these too many times to count now as our own monkey bib lasted throughout the messy feeding stages of both Miss T and Mr TT. The monkey is my favourite however lots of other designs are available including Bee, Cat, Dog, Ladybug, Owl, Panda, Shark, Hedgehog, Cow and Unicorn.
The HodgePodge Baby pram pegs are stylish, practical and the type of item a new mum wouldn’t necessarily buy herself so they make great gifts for babies (and mums). A great way to keep wraps from flying away and so much prettier than the old clothesline pegs I used to use!
ONE.CHEW.THREE has a divine range of teethers. Naturally antibacterial wood and food grade silicones ensure these are as natural as teething gets.
Made from 100% recycled materials, these Green Toys stacking cups will enjoy many years of use in the bath, shower, sandpit and playroom. Free of BPA, Phthalates, PVC, melamine and external coatings like lead, these great toys are dishwasher safe too.
A practical (and beautiful) gift for a new mum, I love the nappy wallets from Brisbane’s Vicki Elle Handmade (there’s lots of lovely fabrics to choose from too).
This gorgeous soft, cotton Transport themed blanket is a great size for a cot, bassinet or pram.
A good quality hooded towel makes a practical gift. For a personal touch, why not have bub’s name embroidered on the hood? I love the towels from Sheridan and Pottery Barn Kids.
Colourful prints are a fun addition to any nursery, bedroom or playroom. I love this colourful animal Alphabet Print and simple Play Print from Karin Akesson Designs.
It’s never too early to start reading! Books make fantastic baby gift ideas. Favourites include any of the That’s Not My… books, Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes, Hooray for Fish, and for mum and bub – the Women’s Weekly food for babies & toddlers.
