From baby teething gifts to Scandi décor, a Dutch toy favourite, fabulous Aussie Etsy finds and a pair of socks that are too cool for school, here’s 10 of my favourite baby and kids gift picks spotted on the interwebs this past month.
You can rock it. Balance on it. Push it. Spin it. Flip it and slide. Sit on it or use it like a foot stool. Dutch children have grown up with these boards for generations. Now it’s Australia’s turn to join the craze! The Kinderfeets Kinderboard is available for pre-orders from Lime Tree Kids for delivery in late September/early October. This board is great for indoor and outdoor play and is for ages 18 months up (suitable to 90kgs).
These origami boats are one of my go-to gifts for babies – I’ve bought them in pink and lemon but am super excited to see this new mint colour. From Spanish designers Oli and Carol, they are 100% natural latex with no valve to let in manky water. Plus they double as a great teether!
Also from Oli and Carol, cheeky monkeys would go bananas for this banana teether. See what I did there?! This chewable fruit-shaped toy is great for sensory play, teething and bath time.
New Zealand brand Seedling have some fantastic craft kits. I love this simple and sweet I’m a little Dotty sometimes beading kit which includes painted wooden beads with string and ribbon for kids to make fun jewellery.
Mystery Seeds is a Perth Hills creative on Etsy who is all about sharing the joy of simple things. Each Mystery Seeds packet contains seeds for an unknown plant. I love surprises, don’t you?! I also love how 10% of profits are given back to malnourished students through the Agape in Action Nutrition Drink program. There’s lots of different themed selections to choose from (like this ‘No. 12 Here’s To Tomorrow’ pictured with some biodegradable seeding pots) or packets can be personalised for custom orders. They’d make a lovely and unique item for a goody bag, thank you gift or for just sharing the love. This No. 12 was kindly gifted and my tornadoes and I can’t wait to see what these mystery seeds grow into!
Another one of my favourite Aussie Etsy shops is Glitter and Glue Designs – home of the lollipop cut-outs which are perfect for parties or group gifts. There’s lots of fun designs to choose from for boys and girls. I love these glittery unicorn mini-lollipop holders.
For those who love a bit of Scandi décor, how stunning is this In the Woods timber table lamp? It would make a beautiful addition to a nursery or kid’s room.
I’m a huge fan of the quality splash jackets from Hatley. Fully lined and waterproof, this cool T-rex Dinosaur jacket has my vote.
I can thank my fellow picture book lover Shannon of Oh Creative Day for introducing me to ABC Pop Up by Courtney Watson McCarthy. It’s the pop-up book to rival all pop-up books! Due for release on September 1 and available for pre-order now, this collectible Alphabet pop-up is for design connoisseurs of all ages. As Shannon says, this book will “wow the kids (and big kids) with its amazing feats of paper engineering. Never did the alphabet look so good.” Check out the video showing off this cute and clever book and pre-order it here.
Happy gift hunting!
