Perth turned on the Winter sun last weekend for one of my favourite events on the market calendar – Perth Upmarket. Held every few months at the grounds of the University of Western Australia, it’s a massive market filled with locally designed original and handcrafted wares.
With over 150 stalls, I love to wander and soak up the market goodness however on this occasion it was more of a quick whip around. Handy Hubby was working so I had both tornadoes in tow. They were surprisingly well behaved (which really just means, Mr TT didn’t break anything).
Here are a few of my favourite baby and kids gift finds from the day… plus a couple of extras for me!
The non toxic scented modelling dough from Dough La La was a huge hit with the tornadoes. They loved smelling each flavour and playing with the dough on display. It was lovely to touch and not sticky at all. We bought two tubs – Pineapple for Mr TT and Blueberry for Miss T. Other flavours available include Berry, Bubble Gum, Lime, Orange, Peppermint and Strawberry.
The range of leather hair accessories from Madison Grace Designs was just beautiful.
The tornadoes had a great time playing with the lovely Amber from Games To Go. Her range of wooden games are fun and educational and I’m also a huge fan of her magnetic chore chips which have been a big hit in our house this year.
The highlight of the day was when Amber let them play with the Mega Bubble wands. The Mega Bubble Mix makes BIG bubbles!
I love the super cute polymer clay earrings from Clay & Clasp in lots of different designs including hearts, doughnuts, strawberries, cupcakes and more.
I recently featured the beautiful Mockingbird teethers from Tilly Mint Kids in my 7 great teething toys post. It was lovely to see all of their other teething accessories on offer including jewellery for mums too.
Earlier this year I hosted a craft party for Miss T and 17 of her closest friends (and survived) thanks to some fantastic library bag craft kits from Blank Canvas Gifts. Their new product – modelled by a baby sized teddy bear – is a sweet idea. The size 0 white cotton onesie is a lovely way for an older child to create a personal and unique gift for a new sibling.
I’m a sucker for gorgeous stationery and have been a fan of every thing from K Gets Organised ever since I first saw Kelsie’s beautiful hand painted designs at an Upmarket two years ago. So many beautiful cards…
…and super pretty stationery. Kelsie is one clever gal.
I’m a fan of the bold, funny and stylish prints from Shopgirl in Print. Seeing the new tropical range of prints made me yearn for Summer and as a big coffee lover, “death before decaf” gave me a good giggle!
We have some crazy talented artisans here in WA. Seeing so many of them on display is inspiring. So too is seeing the large number of visitors to the market supporting local makers.
The tornadoes had a great time and finished the afternoon off with another highlight – face painting. I think they’ll be keen to join me again for a wander at my next market visit!
To discover some WA goodness for yourself, head to the retailers gallery on the Perth Upmarket website or if you’re in Perth, mark your diary for the next Upmarket on September 18.
