Two year olds are curious bundles of energy, stubbornness and gorgeousness all rolled into one. They are hard work – at least my tornadoes were at that age! If you’re stuck with what to buy a tornado this Christmas, here is a bumper selection of my favourite fun, practical and great gifts for two year olds.
Featuring all the farm animals children love, this 53 piece EverEarth Organic Farm block set will encourage hours of imaginative fun.
Specially designed for two to four year olds, I’m a big fan of the Micador early stART range. Perfect for little hands, the range includes great products like the easy grip Egg Chalk, Beeswax Triangle Crayons, Bubblegum Brushes and Chunky Markers.
Duplo is a fantastic gift for two year olds. There’s lots of sets to choose from – I love this toddler-friendly train set, complete with numbered bricks from one through to ten.
As a two year old, “dippy eggs” was my favourite food. Quirky egg cups make a unique and practical gift that can be used for many years to come (I still have my favourite ones!). I love this cute bear egg cup, set of piggy wiggy egg cups and Bordfolk sunrise girl and handyman boy wooden egg cups.
This Swan Organiser from the clever makers at The Wall Collective is simply stunning. Perfect for storing hair clips, ribbons, hair bands and headbands, necklaces, bracelets or other accessories.
Not your ordinary vintage styled wooden race car – this racer has spring suspension and large soft wheels. Thanks to Aussie online store Lucas Loves Cars, Gift Grapevine readers will receive 15% off this racer and all other products storewide until December 15, 2016 when using the discount code GIFTG15.
Also available at Lucas Loves Cars, pair a vintage racer with this awesome 100% cotton, woven and hand printed OYOY Adventure Rug. Perfect for any car obsessed kid.
I’m not usually a fan of soft toys as gifts however Minilotta is an exception. Her head and body are made from special quick-drying foam material which means that this doll can go into water for lots of bathtime fun. Bath toys make great gifts for two year olds.
Puzzles are a creative way to encourage eye-hand and fine motor development. I love the range of quality wooden puzzles from Melissa and Doug including their extra thick wooden puzzles. These include easy-grasp pieces for little hands, chunky shapes, each with a full-colour, matching picture underneath. I love how the pieces can also stand on edges for pretend play. Available in dinosaur, construction, bugs, pets and safari designs.
I’m a cat person. Not a crazy cat lady person, but I do love cats – and I love this cute Sleepy Cat Pillowcase. Quirky pillowcases make a unique gift for kids in their “big kid” bed.
The IKEA Duktig Play Kitchen is a practical and fun gift that kids can enjoy for many years. We bought one for Miss T’s second birthday and four years later, it’s still getting a workout with lots of pretend play and Play-Doh dishes being “cooked”.
Made from environmentally friendly materials and dishwasher safe, this Cookware and Dining Set from Green Toys would pair nicely with the IKEA play kitchen!
Don’t forget books! Books make great gifts for two year olds.
Goat Goes to Playgroup is a fun book that is great for kids attending or about to start daycare or preschool. I love the funny and bright illustrations by Nick Sharratt.
Rudie Nudie features a lovely rhyming tale and gorgeous illustrations. I think many kids can relate to the bathtime antics in this book!
Discovering colours has never been so much fun. The monsters in Monsters Love Colors love to “scribble, scribble, mix, dance and wiggle!”
And to finish off this gift guide, it seems only fitting that I include these t-shirts from Perth label Max + Lauren. Need I say more?!
