I’m a big fan of LEGO. I remember spending hours as a kid building all sorts of weird and wonderful creations. I know in years to come our house will be overrun with little bricks but for the moment, it’s all about Duplo. I love watching what my tornadoes create and at least the larger sized bricks don’t hurt as much as the little spikey suckers.
As a kid there was just LEGO. These days there’s so much more – LEGO City, Speed Champions, Super Heroes, Star Wars, Minecraft, Technic, LEGO Movie, Disney Princess, Creator… the list goes on. Even LEGO Scooby Doo is on it’s way!
With LEGO so popular, it’s no surprise there’s a high chance of double ups when it comes to giving LEGO sets to kids. My godson Mr TJ received 3 of the very same LEGO set for his 4th birthday this year.
If you are lacking storage space for more LEGO sets, tired of stepping on spikey little bricks and looking for something a little different (but still practical!) here are some of my favourite LEGO inspired gift ideas.
Colourful rubber Building Blocks Notebooks.
These Legomen bookends would make a bright and fun addition to any bookshelf.
LEGO keylights are great as a backpack accessory or used as a keyring. An added bonus is the inbuilt flashlight in the figures feet. Lots of characters are available including Batman, Stormtrooper, Wonder Woman and Olivia from LEGO Friends.
This Play N Wrap hobby mat is 1.5 metres wide. Packing up Lego is easy with this – pull up the cord and the mess is gone in seconds.
How cute is this LEGO Minifigure ice mould tray?!
Melbourne based Charlie and Jae make gorgeous wooden wall hooks for kids bedrooms including this Legohead wall hook (available as a standard or removable wall hook).

Why not make your own gift? The very clever Bianca from A Little Delightful has created a free printable LEGO minifigure which you can download from here. Make some copies, add colouring-in and craft accessories and you have an inexpensive, practical and fun gift.
I spotted this great idea from Babee and Me who made this for her son. Tired of losing minifigures, she purchased a house from Cotton On Kids, bought some white bricks off eBay and got to work decorating!
Or if you have LOTS of minifigures, you could always try these DIY storage shelves…
And finally, Hallmark now have LEGO greeting cards. I’ve bought this particular one for a few friends of mine. It makes me laugh every time!
Is your house overrun with LEGO bricks?
Have you ever sustained a serious brick-related foot injury?!
